As I have been having a lot of offline discussions lately about the visuals of poverty, I thought it would be notable to share this article about Australian photographer Raphaela Rosella:
People are Very Quick to Judge: Photos of Teen Moms from Rural Australia
Rosella is young, but already has a World Press Photo award (for portrait) to her credit, and what makes this particular series interesting to me are two key points...firstly, she is from this community, and is therefore on even-ground with the people she is working with, on the whole. And secondly, her photographs are not all of the people; many of them could easily be still life or documentary photographs of a place as opposed to its people.
Worth taking a look.
